A Cherished Moment

‘A Cherished Moment’ is from my ongoing expressive abstract series which relates to wellbeing and calm.

As with the other paintings from this body of work, I self-contemplate upon a colour scheme that helps with an enlightening or good mood, for a better feeling. It is mostly about emotion more than aesthetics, with a flow and a wander around in one’s mind’s eye.

With the help of these pinks, whites and a little contrast, I start off with some brief thought and carry through with some psychic automation, being inspired along the way. I enjoy this expressive freedom I am allowed from painting this way and this is what I would like to relay to the viewer.

To do this painting, I used a gallery wrapped canvas to help give it a complete and unrestricted look and feel. Somewhat borderless that would blend easily with a lot of surroundings. The sides are also neatly painted in a very pale khaki colour and for this, no frame is needed really, like with a modern painting.

The signature is placed on the back, together with the other markings, so as not to interfere with the viewing experience.
